Commissioners
reject Myers annexation
THURMONT,
Md. - The Thurmont Town Commissioners unanimously voted on Oct.
16 not to annex the 210-acre Myers Farm north of town, but the
town's annexation debates are far from over.
"I'm disappointed, but I'm not really surprised,"
said Tom Hudson with Hudson Land, the property developer,
"It's a two-year effort that didn't pan out. Now I've
got to move on."
He said he has grown to like Thurmont from all the time
he has spent in town and if he can assist the town in any

said Mayor Martin Burns.
Blakeslee's
actual salary falls between those of the Brunswick administrator
and Walkersville town manager. However, when the salaries
are compared to the town's population and the town's operating
budget, Blakeslee's salary becomes a

Halloween
in the Park will
scare the yell out of you
THURMONT, Md. - When the sun sets on Oct. 27, Community Park
will change like a werewolf in the full moon. The shady park
with playgrounds and a fitness trail will vanish and in its
place will be a ghostly town of thrills and chills.
"Expect
the unexpected," said Mike Toms with Death Valley Inc.
who has helped create Halloween in the Park for the past three
years.
This
year will be the fifth year for Halloween in the Park and
the fun begins at 6 p.m. at Community Park.
"We're
trying to add a little bit each year," Toms said. "It
will have
